An innovative space at the heart of London’s legal district
The challenge
Initially, TTSP secured planning permission for the refurbishment and redevelopment of 8,000m² at 68–70 Red Lion Street in central Holborn. Following the acquisition of the building by BPP Holdings, TTSP was commissioned to transform the space to include bespoke student accommodation for legal and professional education and training.
The approach
Working in close collaboration with the client, we reshaped the space with the aim of developing a high-quality and connected space. We created a central core focused around a bright, seven-storey atrium at the heart of the building, where glass bridges link through to the education facilities at the front and rear.
Across the nine floors of the building, we created multiple state-of-the-art facilities, including a 256-seat lecture theatre, mock ‘Court Rooms’ for specialised training, a library spanning two floors and café facilities.
The results
The glass-fronted building sits proudly in the heart of London’s legal district, providing the perfect home for students and staff alike. It is an innovative academic space that reflects the university’s attributes and allows its occupants thrive.
